Plot
The Lapaki were once a great and powerful race. Their territory spread all over Tor'ale, and even to some now unknown continents. But they were greedy and arrogant. They began to think that they were gods...and that all should worship them. No mortal could stop them, no mortal could withstand their might, and so the world fell into their paws. But as their arrogance grew so did the anger of the their gods, the real divine beings. The gods sent down one of their own, Hittavainenen, to take care of the Lapaki once and for all. But he did not, for he loved their goddess very much and she begged him not to make his shot fatal.
The times since the Lapaki were overthrown by Hittavanen have been good. As their powers weakened, so did their grip on Tor’ale, and the balance of nature was restored: predators on top with prey…well, maybe not on the bottom…but where one thing weakens another grows, and Hittavainen’s mercy on the Lapaki won him the complete adoration of their mother goddess, Wepuat. They had a daughter together named Wenet, but Hittavainen had eyes only for Wepuat. His daughter tried desperately to win her father’s affection, but nothing she did would make him act as her true father. So, she worked for months to create something that would undoubtedly make him turn his eyes to her, and when it was done she had set off a chain of events that would thrust Tor’ale into the hands of tyrants once more.
The human’s greed grows with Hittavainen’s, and as he gains control over the other gods, they gain control over Tor’ale. Races once respected find themselves enslaved, and as the humans create new magic and new weapons, the chance of winning a war grows slimmer. The situation grows dim…there might be a candle that can push away the darkness…but is anyone brave enough to light it? It is well known that the Lapaki are powerful mercenaries, but there is the chance that asking for their aid could cause history to repeat itself. Can they be trusted?
…Can Tor’ale afford not to trust them?
