Over time Hittavainen’s lust for love and children grew. However, Wepuat would neither forgive nor take him willingly. So, with the help of Reynard, Hittavainen began to seduce other goddesses. To make Wepuat jealous he kept several wives, proclaiming hem all to be more lovely than she ever was. Enraged, she convinced Asena to lure her mate Fenrir away long enough for her to escape. Upon escaping, she cursed Hittavainen so that any children he fathered would be monsters that terrorized his people.
Despite this, the men of his people still followed Hittavainen’s lust and took multiple wives. Wepuat knew that they could not help what their god felt, so she let them be. But not without a warning: If ever they were unfaithful to the women they married, their children would become monsters just as Hittavainen’s had.
