Teelah ◄ ☼ ► Unlike the rest of the harsh lands around, Hatahz'k remained warm and quite comfortable during the winter. This was the reason a certain Lapaki had decided to travel through the area. The Lapaki's short fur made her a little susceptible to cold. So, she decided to make it a little easier on herself and stick to warmer places until spring decided to show itself. The small black doe decided the to treck to Lake Iswed for the reason that she was hungry and she had heard the fish here were quite delicious. She also wanted some quiet place to relax wilst she regained energy from traveling. The clear, blue water at the lake should give quite a sight once the sun dipped down behind it during the sunset. The doe practically shivered in her fur... she couldn't wait to see it.
Teelah made it to Iswed in the afternoon. Twirling her staff in her right paw she looked around the area. She couldn't see anyone in the area... and that was just fine with her. She wouldn't have anyone to compete with while fishing and she also wouldn't have to listen to anyone run their mouth about pointless stories either. Nodding to herself in satisfaction she took off her black scarf and laid it on the ground as well as her staff. Teelah made her way toward the water and sat for a second by the edge... she hadn't really thought of how she would catch the fish. She had only thought of how good they would taste. While she sat there trying to find a good strategy for fish catching at the corner of her eye she saw something shiny flit by in the water. All her concentration vanished in an instant for what she saw was a snake. Without thinking she jumped backwards and reached for her staff only to remember she left it with her scarf on the grass. Growling in annoyance she ran back to retrieve her staff so she could deal with the creature. Unfortunetly though, the snake was nowhere to be seen. Figures... She thought. The doe sighed and went to go sit beside her scarf. She decided to wait for the sunset and then go catch her some fish. After she thought of a plan to get the fish... maybe she could use her staff to swat one out of the water... Maybe if she slept on it she'd think of a plan. Teelah decided that would be a great idea so she grabbed her scarf and balled it up. A rather sorry substitute for a pillow but it would do. The doe layed her head back on the scarf and looked up at the sky. It was still a little while until sunset so she could rest her eyes for a while and be fine. The doe watched the white clouds for a while until her eyes grew heavy and she closed them.

Zajac had been wandering around the lake, hoping to find unsuspecting tourists who would pay for his fortunes. But, as the seasons had changed to winter, coating Ris'rako Valley with a thick blanketing of snow, many had flocked there to enjoy the frozen rain. Being a more thick coated buck, he was used to such weather. But he craved change, and was tired of staying in the snowy valley. Instead, he made the trek down to Hatahz'k in higher hopes of coming across something different.
It was around sunset when he came across her. Laying a little ways off the shore, a black doe with strange brown speckling was dozing in the burning light. Unsure of her, the gypsy grabbed a nearby stick and poked her side with it gently. "Hey." He almost barked, "Not such a good idea to be sleeping in the open so close to night. Someone might come along and snatch ye up." His light accent made itself known as the words rolled off his tongue. Zajac's warm eyes took into account the smallest of details on the doe before him. She wasn't the best looking he had ever seen, but attractive nonetheless. Yet something about her made the buck wary. Her body was toned and muscular. Looking over at the staff, he didn't doubt that she had used it on more than one occasion to cuff an unruly stranger across the head. Taking a small step back, so as to distance himself from any possible harm, he spoke again, his tone taking a more bemused turn. "Ye hear me? Or are you too groggy to hear some sense?"

To the doe it had felt like she only closed her eyes for a second before something prodded her side. She growled and instinctively reached for her staff as her mind processed the possible threat. Then, the words reached her...
"Hey. Not such a good idea to be sleeping in the open so close to night. Someone might come along and snatch ye up."
Someone who had just tried to warn her of the danger of sleeping in the open combined with the fact they had just woken her up couldn't be much of a threat. If they wanted to hurt her they would have done so without waking her up so gently with poking. Opening her eyes the doe groggily looked up at the person who had woken her. It was a buck, he looked like a Snowshoe hare but with a few brown patches on his fur. What she also noticed was the huge amount of jewelry the buck wore. Teelah almost giggled, the white hare had enough on him to choke a mule. She watched as the hare stepped backwards. Probably scared I'll try to hit him or something... The doe yawned and sat up. She tied her sky-blue scarf around her neck and fixed the buck with a brown gaze. "Yes, I can hear you just fine. And I'd like to see someone try to snatch me up..." The doe stood and dusted herself off. "I'd put up such a fight they'd soon run off and leave." Teelah reached for her staff and picked it up. The doe wondered if she should leave now that the lake had another person... No, she decided to stay. She had told herself she'd watch the sunset and she wasn't about to leave now because of some buck. Teelah turned her gaze to the sky. She noticed the sun had decended farther into the sky and was maybe what looked a couple of feet above the the lake. She could already see the spectacle beginning to happen.
